‡a"You can hear it everywhere. These are just the worst times ever, and we all know it. We're awash in crime and drugs and joblessness. We're killing ourselves, intentionally and accidentally. Maybe we're even on the verge of another civil war. Even before COVID-19 arrived and sank us all into a new misery that made us think of the time before the pandemic as the Good Old Days, Americans and other citizens of the democracies were worn out, fed up, angry. Freedom, prosperity, peace - these were just the slogans of regimes that had promised these benefits and then provided nothing but stagnation and endless war. Perhaps the Constitution has run its course, or maybe liberal democracy itself was just a bad idea, a blip on the historical radar, and now it's time to move on. Either way, "the system" has failed, and so perhaps we ourselves should destroy it"--
